“Power Up” Your Resume
The Details
Session 1: Build the Resume Structure and Your Positioning. Learn the Yellow Brick Path approach to great resume development. Understand the “how” and “why” of creating your resume so you can make appropriate changes as needed. Create a draft resume structure and complete key sections.
Between Session 1 and 2: Fill in More Details. Create a document for editing by adding remaining information to the structure without regard to length or detailed editing. Send document to Yellow Brick Path 24-48 hours in advance for review.
Session 2: Edit the Resume. Jointly edit resume document, not only for grammar, spelling, etc., but also for design (what goes on Page 1, do the important things stand out) and for making sure the right things have been captured, that the detail supports the positioning, and that any special considerations have been handled well in the design.
Between Session 2 and 3: Conduct Market Test. Update remaining edits. You now have a useable resume. Conduct a market test of the resume. Send it to 3-5 trusted associates and friends for their feedback using the Yellow Brick Path resume feedback methodology.
Session 3: Refine and Finalize the Resume. Review feedback from market test, decide what is relevant, and incorporate it into the resume. Create a “text” resume for use on the Internet and/or job posting responses.
